Parker PVP Series Hydraulic Pump Overview
The Parker PVP Series is a family of pressure-compensated, variable-volume axial piston pumps designed for reliable, energy-efficient performance in industrial hydraulic systems. Available in five displacement sizes — 16, 23, 33, 41 and 48 cc/rev — PVP pumps cover a wide flow range within a common platform, sharing control architecture, service procedures and spare parts across the family.
All PVP models use a swashplate design with cast-iron housing, replaceable wear components and a servo-piston actuated swashplate that continuously varies displacement to match system demand. Continuous outlet pressure is rated at 248 bar (3,600 PSI) with a peak rating of 310 bar (4,500 PSI), making the PVP series suitable for machine tools, industrial presses, injection moulding machines and hydraulic test equipment.
Parker PVP Series Hydraulic Pump Key Features
Energy-efficient variable displacement — The PVP Series automatically adjusts flow to match system demand. When the pressure reaches the set point, the pump destrokes, eliminating bypass losses and reducing heat generation. Compared to fixed-displacement pumps, it offers significantly higher energy efficiency.
Unified platform across five displacement sizes (PVP16–PVP48) — Covering five displacement sizes from 16 to 48 cc/rev, all models share a common control architecture and service logic. This eliminates the need to relearn different product platforms, greatly simplifying design and maintenance for OEMs across multiple machine variants.
Robust cast-iron housing with low-noise operation — Designed for continuous operation up to 248 bar (3,600 PSI), the rigid housing provides high strength while damping vibration and reducing noise transmission. Ideal for noise-sensitive applications such as machine tools and indoor presses.
Field-replaceable wear components for lower lifecycle cost — All models support thru-shaft drive, allowing rear mounting of a second pump (compatible with SAE AA, A, and B standards). This compact tandem configuration is ideal for hydraulic systems requiring independent implement and steering circuits.
Comprehensive control options with fast dynamic response — Available with a full range of factory-fitted controls, including pressure compensation, load sensing, and horsepower limiting. Combined with response times below 125 ms, the PVP Series enables precise closed-loop control and rapid adaptation to load changes.

Parker PVP Series Hydraulic Pump Applications
The PVP Series is designed for industrial fixed-plant and stationary hydraulic systems where energy efficiency, low noise and precise flow control are required alongside high continuous-duty pressure ratings.
Machine tools
Ideal for milling machines, machining centres, grinding equipment and lathes. Low noise, fast response, and pressure-compensated control improve efficiency during both rapid movement and cutting.
Industrial hydraulic power units (HPUs)
Suitable for fixed-speed and variable-speed HPUs. Flexible control options allow easy integration into different system designs without changing the pump platform.
Injection moulding and blow-moulding machines
High-cycle injection moulding machines require fast response. The PVP16 and PVP23 reach full displacement in under 125 ms at 1,800 RPM, enabling precise control and reducing pressure loss between cycles.
Industrial presses and forming equipment
Metal forming and deep-drawing presses operate under wide pressure variations. The optional horsepower control (H) limits pump torque at high pressure, protecting the motor without additional electronics.
Material handling and test-stand equipment
Reach stackers, industrial forklifts and hydraulic test systems require variable flow at constant pressure. Load sensing control (A) matches flow to demand, reducing heat generation in partial-load operation.
