Rexroth 4WS2EM Directional Servo Valve Overview

The Rexroth 4WS2EM is an electrically operated 2-stage 4-way directional servo valve with mechanical feedback, designed for high-precision closed-loop control of position, force, pressure and velocity. It adopts a nozzle-flapper plate first-stage amplifier and dry torque motor design, with a precision-machined control spool in a sleeve, connected to the torque motor via mechanical feedback linkage.

Available in nominal sizes 6 and 10, this servo valve delivers excellent dynamic response and high control accuracy. Size 6 features fixed internal pilot oil supply and drain, while size 10 supports configurable internal/external pilot supply and return combinations; both sizes can also be used as 3-way versions. The valve features wear-free spool return elements and gap-sealed pressure chambers, ensuring long service life and stable performance under demanding operating conditions.

Two main electronic configurations are available:

• 4WS2EM: Matched with external control electronics (Euro-card or modular servo amplifiers, ordered separately)
• 4WSE2EM: Equipped with factory-calibrated integrated on-board electronics (OBE) for plug-and-play operation

Valves of type 4WS2EM are electrically operated, 2-stage directional servo valves. They are mainly used to control position, force, pressure or velocity. These valves are made of an electro-mechanical converter (torque motor), a hydraulic amplifier (principle: nozzle flapper plate) and a control spool in a sleeve (2nd stage) which is connected with the torque motor via a mechanical feedback.
